Try Ihsan Agile in Your Team

Start small. No commitment required.

Ihsan Agile is a modular, open-source framework that helps Muslim-led teams bring Islamic values, niyyah (intention), iḥsān (excellence with God-consciousness), and maṣlaḥah (public good), into everyday Agile delivery.

You don’t need to adopt a new methodology or restructure your team.
Teams can begin by trying one small practice in a single sprint.

Two Ways to Get Started

Pathway 1: Try One Ihsan Practice (Lowest Barrier)

This option is for teams who are simply curious.

What it is:

  • Try one Ihsan Agile practice

  • In one existing ceremony

  • For one sprint

  • No roles, no pilots, no commitment

Examples:

  • A 2–3 minute Niyyah Check-In at Sprint Planning
“Why are we building this? Who benefits?”

  • A short Muhāsabah Reflection in Retrospectives
“Where did we act with iḥsān? Where did we fall short?”

  • Adding ethical completeness to your Definition of Done
    (justice, stewardship, transparency)

Good to know:

  • You do not need organisational approval

  • You do not need to read the full guide first

  • You can stop at any time

  • Feedback is optional and can be anonymous

This is the recommended starting point for most teams.

Pathway 2: Exploratory Ihsan Agile Field Trial (Optional Next Step)

This option is for teams who’ve tried a practice and want to go a little deeper.

What it is:

  • A short, exploratory trial over 2–3 sprint cycles

  • Using several Ihsan Agile practices

  • Within your existing Agile approach (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)

What it is not:

  • Not a full adoption

  • Not certification

  • Not a finished system being imposed

  • Not public unless you want it to be

What you’ll get:

  • Light-touch support adapting practices to your context

  • Optional check-ins and reflection

  • Connection with other teams exploring similar questions

What we ask:

  • Willingness to make values explicit in delivery conversations

  • Honest feedback about what helps and what doesn’t

  • Permission to document lessons learned (you control what’s shared)

  • Roles such as the Ihsan Agile Facilitator or Product Steward may be explored if helpful, but they are not required for this pathway.

What Ihsan Agile Adds (Without Adding Weight)

Ihsan Agile works with the Agile methods you already use.

Practices typically add 2–10 minutes to existing ceremonies and focus on:

  • intention and purpose

  • ethical clarity in delivery decisions

  • responsibility for uncertainty and harm

  • public benefit beyond metrics

About the Framework

  • Open source and community-developed

  • Grounded in The Qur’an and Sunnah

  • Independently reviewed by the Muslim Open Source Foundation
(67/70 — their highest evaluation to date)

The full framework, roles, and stewardship pathway are documented in the guide for teams who wish to go deeper.
